  From the Introduction:

Over the sixteen year period in which I have been a China-adoptive parent and have been reading and writing about all aspects of adoption, the tendency for certain issues or facets of issues in adoption and adoptive parenting to go unnoticed, like well-camouflaged animals in the wild, has become apparent. The subject of the China-adoptive child's heritage and the need and manner of the adoptive parent's response to that heritage is not highly complex, yet it has several aspects which, if not actually invisible, are often overlooked.
